Chapter Business

A few points to discuss:

We had dinner on Tuesday night at the Crystal Lake Country Club just outside of McDonough. It was a huge success! We had about 33 people in attendance. The National PAC Director joined us, Terry Biggio brought out an award given to Atlanta ARTCC by a group of Flight Plan Users that listed ZTL as the Number 1 facility in the country! We were also blessed to have all three scholarship recipients in attendance. It was a great night. You can catch the pictures that were taken by Norman Jones. Just click on the picture of the cake below.

We had 33 people attend the dinner, but we had 43 RSVP. Since we were short in attendance by about 25%, we were charged an additional $100 fee. We have had huge success with the dinners over the last 18 months, and the money on the dinners is very well spent. If gives us a chance to visit with each other, check out a few of the local restaurants, and get some chapter business taken care of. That said, if you are not going to attend, please do not RSVP. This is the second time that we have had to pay a fee for folks that did not attend, and that is not money well spent.

Having just had a Chapter dinner in late June, the Executive Board has decided to forego the August dinner. We have a history of having a dinner for the members that attend the convention, and we are going to have a huge group of new attendees at this years event. So we will hold a dinner there. Tentatively, it will be on Tuesday night, September 14th. We will move the December dinner up to early November. This will prevent any issues of conflicting with the holidays. Then have another dinner in January to Marshall in any new Chapter Officers.

That said,

Please start thinking about the Chapter Officers. Jay Raymond and I have tried very hard to get people involved in order to build a succession of future officers. Elections will be in the fall. We would love to have people involved and have some healthy elections. It is always a little difficult to put yourself out there in an election, but the rewards of serving your friends and the community make it worth while.

Remember, this is your chapter. I would hate to see it die on the vine for lack of involvement.
